The Advantages to Wood Flooring

Solid Wooden Floors
Apart from longevity, wooden floors are very resistant and durable against daily tear and wear. Unlike man-made or laminate flooring, wood holds warmth which makes your feet feel warm; laminate floors are cold to the touch. A floor that is made of hardwood is good for people that have allergies as well as hardwood flooring does not provide a breeding ground for dust mites, mildew or molds. As compared to carpets, cleaning wooden floors is easy. Damp mopping or vacuuming is all that is required for it to stay fresh.
Pre-finished Hardwood
A wood flooring can be bought either pre-finished or finished. Pre-finished hardwood is much more convenient because no sanding is required. This, therefore, saves time with installation, and there is no sawdust to clean up. The wood here is already finished, so there is no time required for drying as well. Floor lacquers, varnishes, and other coatings must be completely dry before walking on the surface if you choose to use them.
Unfinished Hardwood
Most professional floor experts prefer dealing with unfinished wood since it gives a uniform and better overall seal to the project. You should ensure that all joints and gaps are sealed completely before applying the finish on the surface. The sealant offers protection against moisture. This is the primary enemy that wooden floors have, moisture and humidity. However, working with unfinished wood also requires more time, expenses, and labor, but the end result makes it worth.
Flooring Stains and Surfaces
Another advantage of using wood flooring is that there are many types of stains and surfaces available for finishing the floor. As a client, the floor installer will use the best finish that you want. However, hand scraped flooring is gaining popularity among professional installers and home owners. This is a wooden floor that is made from planks worked on by hand and not machines. This gives the floor a finish that looks more rustic.
You can obtain more variations depending on the colors and types of stains that will be used on the wood. Some stains bring out the beauty of wood while others are meant to change the caste and color of the floor completely. This will make the floor look as if it is made from a single kind of wood when in real sense, wood of different varieties of lesser quality was used.
Another great advantage of installing wooden floors is that, apart from it lasting for long periods of time, it can be integrated into most design schemes in offices or homes. It adds structural strength to a space which is not apparent with most other types of flooring.
